Bug Description

Flashcam is a V4L1 interface emulator for V4L2 devices, such as Webcams. It was originally written to allow Adobe Flash Player v9 (which was V4L1 only) to access Webcams under Linux.

It is still needed and relevant today because Flash Player v10, at the time of writing, has a very buggy V4L2 interface. See Bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/adobe-flashplugin/+bug/420711 for reasoning.

URL: http://www.swift-tools.net/Flashcam/ and http://sourceforge.net/projects/flashcam/
License: GPL
Notes: Flashcam could use a good init script for Debian/Ubuntu, which it currently lacks.

This bug is tagged needs-packaging which identifies it as a request for a new package in Ubuntu. As a part of the managing needs-packaging bug reports specification, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Specs/NeedsPackagingBugs, all needs-packaging bug reports have Wishlist importance. Subsequently, I'm setting this bug's status to Wishlist.

I have created a package for Flashcam, currently building and testing from my PPA. Hopefully this should make inclusion easier:

Reviewing needs-packaging bug reports I have concluded that this bug is likely a duplicate of bug 539965. It'd be great if you could help consolidate these bug reports by performing the following actions.

1. Examine both bug reports to determine if they are actually duplicates.
2. Determine which bug report is more complete - a more complete bug report will have a status of Confirmed, Triaged or In Progress, may be assigned to someone or may possess a bug watch.
3. Mark the other bug report a duplicate of the complete one by clicking 'Mark as duplicate' on the right hand side of the bug page.

Thanks for helping out!

Requires are kernel driver which is likely to break anything.

Therefore I do not want to publish it on GetDeb until the driver is in the official
repositories and only Flashcam itself is still required.

Changed in getdeb.net:
status: New → Won't Fix
Changed in debian:
status: New → Fix Released
