Bug Description

Binary package hint: bluez

I have a logitech mx 5500 keyboard + mouse combo. The problem is, it's bluetooth dongle won't go to HCI mode. I would like to use it as bluetooth dongle too. It worked on jaunty, but broken on karmic, possibly because of hid2hci tool drop.

Exactly the same problem here.
I have an old Logitech Bluetooth desktop set.

I think the bluetooth hub is Tex Instruments Hub on Bus 003 Device 002.

Okay, I was able to pair the devices using KBluetooth, but it still working bad.

Mouse is working good at all (after pairing), but the keyboard has disconnected after some time (only once for now).

Captured dmesg and got this message after pairing keyboard:
[87140.856289] input: Logitech MX5500 Keyboard as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:13.1/usb6/6-1/6-1.1/6-1.1:1.0/bluetooth/hci0/hci0:12/input48

So the device seem to work, though you have to have USB/PS2 mouse+keyboard to pair MX5500.

Okay, continuing my investigation :)

The keyboard disconnected once again (since last post), but I didn't do anything and it connected back in ~1 minute.

I also tried rebooting the PC and the keyboard & mouse connected well and even worked all the time :)

By the way, anyone here? x)

It got my Logitech DiNovo working again in Lucid.

Same thing for me. After Lucid upgrade: No mouse, no keyboard anymore :-(

And no more screen due to bug #560306 :-((

In the past Lynx was a browser for blind people.
Now I have Lucid Lynx, an OS for blind and handless people.

Tommy's trick worked well for me.

I think I have the same bug as what is discussed here.

I am on a ubuntu 11.10 and have also tried on the daily build (2/29/2012) of ubuntu 12.04 precise and I get the same problem on both.

I bought a new Logitech MX 5500 keyboard + mouse combo. It would not work, no keystrokes or mouse movement.

I have found two solutions on the internet for Ubuntu 11.10, both involve hooking up another mouse/keyboard that does work with ubuntu.

Remember, both solutions assume you have another keyboard/mouse that work.

Solution 1 - Open up the bluetooth settings and search for bluetooth devices. It will find the mouse and keyboard and you can sync them up. This method worries me because if something happens to disconnect the mouse/keyboard you will have to restart this procedure.

Solutions 2 - Edit /lib/udev/rules.d/62-bluez-hid2hci.rules to comment out the two lines under #Logitech Devices

No, I do not really understand what is causing the issue, but I know how to get it working for now.

I also tried it on a daily development build of 12.04 today to see if the problem has been fixed, and it had not been.

This is reported against an old version of Ubuntu and many things has changed since then. Because of that we won't fix this issue however if this behavior repeats on a modern version please fill a bug report against it and we will take it from there.
