Bug Description

I'm using the unr version on my acer aspire one. As you can see in the screenshot, there is a noticeable difference in the spacing from the top row of icons to the second row then there is between the second row to the third. This causes the text on the bottom row of icons to be cut off. When you scroll to the bottom you can barely see the top part of the text on the bottom row. This is only on the games folder that I see this.

I have a Toshiba NB 200 and the same issue is very obvious the amount of space given to the first row of Games icons seems enormous. The text for the last row appears below the edge of the frame and is illegible. The mouse-over frame for each icon on the last row is half in and half out of the surrounding games frame - irritating!

I am using the karmic remix, commodore mark in a netbook assembler in Argentina.

errors that occur is that if this in the main screen, and you must not exceed the amount of 12 icons, is 3 rows and 4 columns, but if it exceeds that amount, it becomes 3 rows and 3 columns.

screenshots are attached.

in the archives. txt is the technical detail

thanks,

I am seeing the same thing. I was pretty sure this had to do with gnome having submenus for some game types. The package sgt-puzzles categorizes it's games as 'logic' which seems to break the whole thing. I worked on creating my own menu with all items but the process is too tedious. In the menu editor to cannot select multiple items to move. Also I could not find a way, via the command line to accomplish this. I was hoping I could simply cat the contents of each submenu into a new menu but it does not seem to be this flat.

Since this affect core functionality, can this be bumped from low to at least medium or high? The games menu is essentially unusable. It only displays about half the games. Admittedly, you can simply launch games from the cli but still - it is a functionality issue that anyone would encounter (even on a fresh install) if they install games via the utilities you provide.

This issue is occurring on my regular Karmic install as well(not the netbook edition). My issue seems to be that back in the day I was editing the menu and deleted the stupid submenus and ever since I have had to manually add most every game I install to the game menu because a shortcut is not automatically created for most games. Mupen64 created its own shortcut link regardless of this issue so apparently it is not affected if that may help. ...re-adding the submenus does not appear to fix anything btw. I really hope this gets fixed by Lucid's release.

I agree with #9, this really sours the UNR experience and should be bumped up in priority. The accessories and games sections are both buggy for me (more so than the rest of the fairly buggy UNR launcher) and the games section is useless.

(I have an eee pc 1005ha with Ubuntu 9.10.)

This bug affects me too, I think it is very weird that this happens in Games only.

I can also confirme this bug. I can see this bug if i have more than 31 Links in one menu. One question i have. Why is the Importance: low? For me is this is a critical bug. I don't can youse UNR if i have more than 31 links in one menu!

I have a ASUS Bee Series and I experimented the same problem with the new main menu. In my case, I not able to access to some icons if in the menu there's more than six icon.

In this screen you can see six icon, but actually there's 9. There's 3 incons out of canvas.
the System section is even worst, with the Preferences' icons overlaping over the System's icons.

It's not only a aestetic problem. I can not access to some important aplications, witch makes the main menu unsefull in my computer.

I think is just a problem with the icons alignment and the scrollbar.

When there's few icons, these fits perfectly with the menu container. In my case (800x480 screen), the icons aligns horizontally in groups of three. When there's more icons in the menu that can be shown in the screen a scrollbar appears. With this new object, the icons doesn't have enough width space and they will be aligned in groups of two. The icon alignment is recalculate but not the menu container box height, witch is still measured as if the icons werw aligned in groups of three.

My English is very bad, but I hope I could make clear my point.

Same problem on 30 Asus EeePc's 900a used in classroom.

Problem exists in both karmic and lucid.

Intially, icons are in rows of 4 across the screen. When I add Edubuntu packages, in Education, Games and System (including Preferences and Administration), the rows change to 3 icons across the screen, and icons will be cut off at the bottom of the screen.

When I add the applications individually, the icons initially appear correctly, 4 across, but on reboot, the icons exhibit the same problem, rows of 3, cut off at the bottom.

In the past, I've been able to uncheck some of the less important applications in Main Menu to hide them, and have students work with the remaining applications. On a new Asus Eeepc 1001p, same problem, except now unchecking the icons in Main Menu has no effect. Icons do not go away, even after reboot. Revert does not work.

There is some indication that certain of the application icons are more problematic, i.e., the ones from KDE.

From my point of view, problem has become serious. Students will be able to access certain apps only from the command line.
