fglrxinfo reports fails to open display.gdm log file reports: Failed to load module "fglrx" (Module does not exist)

restricted kernel modules are there. Also manually loaded the fglrx package again.

Please attach your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log files.

Also check that you have appropriate version of linux-restriced-modules package installed (that matches the version of your kernel as reported by /proc/version).

Dapper Flight 7 was a release candidate. Does the same problem occur with the final Dapper CD?

Thanks

Also, can the same be reproduced with the following releases (edgy, feisty)?

Ralph,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes if I do a clean install with dapper final, edgy and feisty the same bug is there.

However, if I insall breezy, dist-upgrade sequentially to each (I had to replace my hardrive just recently tha is how I know this) I can run feisty.

Something in breezy all is good, and stays in the settings after upgrade.

Clean installs of subsequent releases is not good.

Regards,

Ashley

Is there a difference in xorg.conf or the installed packages (in particular something that could relate to fglrx) between the clean installation and the installation via breeze?
