Bug Description

Binary package hint: kde-systemsettings

In kde-systemsettings, module ''Display'', Tab ''Power Saving'' :
When I choose a waiting period in ''Schwitch off monitor after'', it works fine.

But after logout and relogging, the value comes back to a default value (30 min.).
I'm not sure, but this setting should be written in kcmdisplayrc. Unfortunately, it didn't.

I didn't see any error when lauching from a terminal.

I'm using Dapper up-to-date.

Same happens for me, too. Up to date Dapper seems to have a few display-related issues already now that I've tried them out.

I can confirm that it does indeed default back to 30 minutes.

Looking at the code under applyDpms() it looks like it makes no attempt to write to the config file. Just runs xset. It does attempt to read config parameters from the file, though.

Having a closer look, it still needs to be saved to kconfig and read back.

We're now writing values for dpms to displayconfigrc and reading them back with displayconfig-restore at login, that should resolve this issue.

Hi, is this going to be fixed in Dapper?

I'm having this problem again in kubuntu/gutsy. After logging out/in, the "enable power saving" check box is always unchecked, and thetime is always set to 30 minutes. Reopen the bug?

I have this problem on two separate machines in gutsy. One machine remembered the setting once (I set the timeout to 1 minute) and now it remembers only that setting every time I log in again, regardless of my attempts to change it.

Please don't reopen old bugs that appear to be the same issue. File new bugs. In this case when you put it back to in progress you make it appear as if someone is working on it and that's unlikely to be the case.
