Bug Description

Hi,

Opening audio decoder: [mp3lib] MPEG layer-2, layer-3
AUDIO: 44100 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 32.0 kbit/2.27% (ratio: 4000->176400)
Selected audio codec: [mp3] afm: mp3lib (mp3lib MPEG layer-2, layer-3)

using dapper version = ok
using edgy version = sound is all crippled and full of noise.

This is running a very ultra up-to-date edgy.

changing -ao options makes no difference.

note the video is always good.

I gave a sample file to Reinhard for debugging. If somebody else needs it, please let me know. I don't plan to slam the url here otherwise my adsl will die and no, it's not p0rn ;)

Fabio

crimsun found this patch. It doesn't apply cleanly to our mplayer but it could fix the bug so we should maybe use a cvs snapshot of mp3lib/*

It's not a bug in the mp3lib but somewhere else it seems. the version from dapper doesn't work either.
I'll disable mp3lib in the next upload for now which will then use mad or ffmpeg's mp3 decoder for decoding.

mp3lib/mad/ffmpeg can be chosen at runtime, just look at : mplayer -ac help

Also, maybe it would be nicer if bugs were reported upstream instead of only being workarounded :

For me, mp3lib works OK, but ffmpeg is very slow.
