Could not calculate the upgrade

A unresolvable problem occured while calculating the upgrade. Please report this as a bug.

Please, make sure you include the name of the program in which you noticed the problem. From your description one can only guess that it's one of the package managers. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your bugreport.

If it was a problem when trying to upgrade from breezy to dapper (it looks like it), please attach the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade*.log to this bugreport.

I got the same error message upgrading from breezy to dapper beta. Attached are the log files

Hi

Two errors here.

Upgrade from an completly new installation of kubuntu 6.06 LTS (from the Live CD) including

root@stockhorn:~# uname -a
Linux stockhorn 2.6.15-23-386 #1 PREEMPT Tue May 23 13:49:40 UTC 2006 i686 GNU/Linux
root@stockhorn:~#

the latest patches (dapper). Then trying to upgrade by using

kdesu "update-manager -c -d"

(..)

First error
======

(..)
xtracting '/tmp/tmpV8IBR_/edgy.tar.gz'
authenticate '/tmp/tmpV8IBR_/edgy.tar.gz' against '/tmp/tmpV8IBR_/edgy.tar.gz.gpg'
can't find DistUpgradeViewGtk
(..)
Solution:
root@stockhorn:~# apt-get install python-vte
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
  python-gtk2
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  python-gtk2 python-vte
0 upgraded, 2 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 169kB of archives.
After unpacking 389kB of additional disk space will be used.

Second error
========

The update-manager stops after while with the following message:

"Could not calculate the upgrade"
