Bug Description
Binary package hint: network-manager
I use a huawei 220 as mobile broadband modem. If I boot with the modem attached to usb connection the modem connects nicely to network manager. If I detach it and reattach it during the same session everything works great and the same as in the karmic 9.10. But if I try to attach the modem after the boot sequnce it is impossible to make netwrok manager to find the modem. Nautilus finds it and if I use the command lsusb I can see the modem so it should nopt be any problem with the kernel I hope. This is a regression from the karmic since it worked perfectly in that version. Or maybe it was another version of Network manager in Karmic?

I have the Huawei UMG1831 and I am experiencing this exact same issue. Now, I needed to install usb-modeswitch and update my /etc/modules to do a "modprobe usbserial vendor=0x12d1 product=0x1404" in order to get Ubuntu 10.04 to see the device. If I boot the system with the USB stick connected all is well, but if it is not connected I need to execute the modprobe command manually to get things working again.
