Bug Description

When putting AM_MAINTAINER_MODE([enable]) into a configure.ac file, the configure message is

checking whether to disable maintainer-specific portions of Makefiles... $USE_MAINTAINER_MODE

Notice the "disable" part of the message; it is plain wrong. The AM_MAINTAINER_MODE macro does not invert the meaning of --enable/disable-maintainer-mode, it just changes the default value. The attached patch fixes the issue, so that, whatever the default value is, the message is always displayed as

checking whether to enable maintainer-specific portions of Makefiles... $USE_MAINTAINER_MODE

Thank you for your work there, this source is on sync with Debian so somebody should probably send the change to the Debian bts for review
