Mouse skips every few seconds

Bug Description

Starting with the upgrade from dapper to edgy, I'm getting mouse skips every few seconds, music skips as well. This happens with idle load, when I'm doing nothing but dragging my cursor.

On second though, this doesn't appear to be an xorg issue, I'm starting to suspect dbus now.

Here's why:

Starting my apps in a failsafe X session works. Just running GNOME works too, until I turn on xchat-gnome. Now it would be kinda odd that xchat could make the entire X session jump, so I rather suspect something like dbus or hal to be the cause.

Looking into this further.

Still skips when HAL is stopped, it's something else.

My USB mouse and keyboard (logitech) skip frequently (few times a minute at least), I'm using a powered usb-hub. Some letters are skipped or multiplied when writing with the USB keyboard and some single mouse clicks become double or triple clicks.. So yes, this is very annoying bug.

My computer is a HP nx7400 Laptop with Intel 945GM chipset, graphics, sound and Intel Core Duo T2400 processor with 2 GB of RAM.

Confirmed: It even skips/multiplies without the usb hub and in any usb port.
