Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg-driver-fglrx

The current ATI driver 8.28.8 has a serious problem with mouse pointer positioning when using Dual-Head (Big desktop mode) with different screen resolutions on the two heads.

See here:

http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=492

If you don't want to frustrate dual-head users in the next release then I recommend sticking to ATI driver 8.27.10 until this bug is solved. 8.27.10 has a similiar problem (http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=210) but this only results in a visual glitch instead of a mouse pointer positioning problem. The visual glitch is nerving but it's ok to work with it. But the mouse pointer positioning problem is a real problem because it can lead to clicking the wrong buttons and therefor deleting the wrong files or stuff like that. I tried to work with it some time, it's impossible.

Maybe Ubuntu has the power to convince ATI that testing their drivers in some common Dual-Head configurations would quite be nice? It's really a shame: Each new version fixes something but also often breaks something else...

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you?
Thanks in advance.
