Bug Description

Edgy Knot-1 with kernel 2.6.17-5-386 panics on boot after installation on a Dell D600.

The following message fills the screen

Unknown interrupt or fault at EIP 00000060

and then the system reboots itself and the panic occurs again and the system reboots and so forth.

I opetd for Edgy because with Dapper Drake cds, the system finishes installation, reboots, and fails at kernel decompression. (I can file a separate bug for that issue if you want.)

Knot 2:
First install attempt resulted in a purplish screen, so I rebooted and changed from VGA to 1024x768 with 24 colors. That worked and I got to see the LiveCD. Nice stuff.

After the reboot, I didn't get to the Grub screen, so I powered down, waited until 5 and powered on. System booted into Ubuntu.

On a curious note, I installed Edgy Knot 1 from the Alternate CD yesterday, and that worked fine.
