Bug Description
Binary package hint: hplip
In edgy I removed hplip with aptitude, after noticing it's only Recommended by ubuntu-desktop, and saw it had some problems:
[... other packages ...]
Removing hplip ...
* Stopping HP Linux Printing and Imaging System [ ok ]
Purging configuration files for hplip ...
/usr/sbin/delgroup: The group `scanner' is not empty!
dpkg: error processing hplip (--purge):
subprocess post-removal script returned error exit status 5
[...other packages...]
Errors were encountered while processing:
hplip
aptitude showed that hplip had been uninstalled but simply that configuration files remained.
Basically, that 'scanner' group isn't empty shouldn't cause such a problem - simply don't remove the group and carry on uninstalling hplip without a fuss.
