Bug Description

Postinst copy gets No such file or directory:

  update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.17-6-386
  cp: cannot stat `/etc/udev/rules.d/65-persistent-storage.rules': No such file or directory

  Setting up volumeid (093-0ubuntu14) ...
  update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.17-6-386
  cp: cannot stat `/etc/udev/rules.d/65-persistent-storage.rules': No such file or directory

That's due to some packages being unpacked but not configured. If all
packages are configured, update-initramfs should not show this.

I had the same problem while upgrading from dapper to edgy. However, I only saw this error after dropping to single user mode. Otherwise, installing initramfs-tools would hang forever when it tried to recreate the initrd, and output no error message.

Once in single user mode, this error appeared and the initrd would get created eventually. Once udev and mdadm got upgraded, the errors with creating the initrd went away.

I had exactly the same experience as elijah while upgrading. It took some time, but it worked out fine eventually.

Confirmed when upgrading from Dapper to Edgy using cdromupgrade. Seems harmless. When upgrading further to Feisty, everything was fine.
