Thanks for the report. I would agree that the description should be improved.

For reference, the current text reads:

"A CUPS printer configuration tool and status applet.

This package provides the GTK frontend."

This should be fixed upstream in Gnome so we don't have to reapply the patch every time a new release comes out. Does anyone know where this package is upstream? I can't find it on Gnome Bugzilla.

This file should replace the old ./debian/control file and then repackaged.

This is a patch for it, should commit this into a branch and merge it across.

Jacky, this is an issue that needs to be resolved upstream in Debian. You should open a bug report and submit your patch there. Also, you should leave the status as 'In progress' until the patch has actually been merged with the main codebase.

This still needs to be Fixed, the Fixed Released state for the upstream task is incorrect. Somebody should forward the bug and the patch upstream to debian, see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Debian/Bugs

This needs to be fixed in the Ubuntu package not the Debian package. See: http://packages.debian.org/sid/system-config-printer

Debian has a different description as can be seen.
