Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

I tried to upgrade to edgy from dapper.
i ran

update-manager -c -d

the following is the error that i got:

Could not calculate the upgrade

A unresolvable problem occured while calculating the upgrade.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bugreport.
"

got this same error message today attempting to upgrade from a freshly updated Dapper to Edgy (as in, I'd just fully updated it and rebooted to get everthing properly in)

@Vikas BN: your problem is a duplicate of #58424

@paul cooke: your problem has a different origin. could you please file a seperate bug about it? and attach the files again. The problem is that kubuntu-desktop is currently not upgradable at all so it deserves a new and more generic report.

I will mark this report a duplicate of #58424 and we will have a new report for the the issue that paul has.
