Bug Description

I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS with sound output via coax SPDiF from my motherboard. Sound worked until today when I installed what I thought was a routine update.

All volumes in alsamixer are set at max.

I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer.

This release of Ubuntu is no longer receiving maintenance updates. If this is still an issue on a maintained version of Ubuntu please let us know.
