Bug Description
I've got a HP Compaq Business Notebook nx7000 with a built-in Winbond SD/MMC Reader (W83L519D). I use Ubuntu 6.06 (kernel 2.6.15-26-386).
When I put in my MMC dmesg says:
[17189696.108000] mmcblk0: mmc0:0001 C0922 125440KiB <NULL>
[17189696.108000] mmcblk0: unknown partition table
[17189697.936000] FAT: utf8 is not a recommended IO charset for FAT filesystems, filesystem will be case sensitive!
In /dev/ there's just "mmcblk0" but no "mmcblk0p1", "mmcblk0p2"... - so the partitions of the MMC aren't represented in /dev/. Nautilus tries to show the content of the MMC but it fails: sometimes it shows nothing, sometimes a lot of files and directories with strange names like "╒╙├╙╦¡■▒.σíµ".
When I reload the driver "wbsd" for the CardReader dmesg says:
[17190366.004000] wbsd: Winbond W83L51xD SD/MMC card interface driver, 1.5
[17190366.004000] wbsd: Copyright(c) Pierre Ossman

Are you able to test the edgy or even feisty kernel to see if this is still a problem there? It looks like a driver problem on dapper. The "unknown partition table" message looks suspicious. Can you please post the entire dmesg?
