Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg

Hi!
I choose always in to Ubuntu Dapper Drake driver TDFX and everything it acted, but now in the Edgy I am enforced for usage VESA - and no other sie.
Whats happening? It transitional ?

[ Edgy Eft Ubuntu 6.10 Knot-3 ]
- xserver - does not stand up in the tdfx driver and another - only vesa.

Piotr,

there are six other bugs open for package 'xserver-xorg-video-tdfx', but none of them was opened during Edgy development cycle (meaning none of them is specific to Edgy).

Also, this package was basically not modified recently (barring minor changes to the build environment).

Having said that, there is surely the possibility a bug exists, as it seems to be your case. Yours, though, is the first report on the subject.

Please follow the steps described at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingXAutoconfiguration, and attach the configuration and log files described in this wiki page.

When i reconfigure xserver-xorg:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

appear message:

NO X server known for your video hardware.
There ist either no video hardware installed on this machine ( e.g. serial console only ), or the "discover" program was unable to determine which X server is appropriate for the video hardware. This could be due to incomplete information indiscover's hardware database, or becaus your video hardware is not supported by the available X severs.

and when i want GDM stopping

sudo invoke-rc.d gdm stop

appear message i the all monitor screen recurrent: ( my hostname name THEMISTO )

+ stat -L -c%t /dev/disk/by-uuid/ [...more number....]

[...]

themisto login: Calling INT0x1A (F000:FE6E)
EAX is 0xB102
( on the all monitor screen, strange arrangement )

i don't understand what's happening.

I have the same problem after ugrading to XUbuntu Egdy. The tdfx driver worked fine in Dapper but now I'm forced to switch to vesa.

I also get a lot of theese on the console:

Calling INT0x1A (F000:FE6E)
EAX is 0xB102

with the last number on the EAX line changing a little, eg. 0xB10C or 0xB109. I don't think I ever had theese in Dapper.
