Bug Description
I upgraded from dapper to edgy (sylpheed-claws is now version 1.0.5-4build1) and the fonts look really bad. Both UI and message text are like that. This happens even with a fresh user config. Firefox or gaim are not affected.
I attached a partial screenshot to demonstrate the problem.

As sylpheed-claws uses gtk+1.2, I suspect this is the same behaviour EvergreyNY is experiencing here:

Both Audacity (the ubuntu build) and XMMS use gtk+ 1.2, like sylpheed-claws, and both have bad fonts under edgy.
This might be related but on my clean install of edgy beta the (nearly) default xorg.conf had fonts pointing to /usr/share/ X11/fonts (100dpi, 75dpi, Type1 et.al.), but these fonts were actually located at /usr/share/ fonts/X11. I
Changing this doesn't improve the fonts in Tcl-tk apps, but I haven't tested any GTk+1.2 app.
Hope this info is useful to somebody,
Miguel
PS: I would change "affected package" to libgtk1.2 (or similar, I'm on a Debian Etch machine right now)
