accented vowels

I can confirm this, due I have a similar problem... I've upgraded my kubuntu distribution to edgy, but when I restarted my system, I was unable to white accented character, all what I get is a "Ž".

For example:
I want to write this: "¡es el camión más rápido que he visto!"

But I get: "¡es el camiŽon mŽas rŽapido que he visto!"

I've discovered how to type an accented vowel, for example, á it's a combination of "alt gr + a".

Nothing else...

I have solved the problem, but I guess is a little shoddy.

1. Edit your /etc/X11/Xsession and add this line at its begining:
export QT_IM_MODULE=simple

2. Restart your X session

The problem was KDE use an incorrect Input Method for the spanish language: xim. Setting the Input Method to the "simple" solve this problem.

Ok, in gnome you must use the GTK_IM_MODULE variable.

It didn't worked for me.
I still can't type any vowel like this "ó" but I can type special characters like "ñ"...

Still a problem on Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty)?
