The shutdown process doesn't work correctly

Bug Description

System -> Quit -> Shut down

The shutdown process works randomly for me !?

Sometimes my computer shutdown correctly and sometimes it seems that the fans turn off but all the lights inside are still turned on. So I have to turn my computer off manually, pressing the power button.

I don't get any error message from the system...

How can I help to solve that problem?

Which computer are you using? This is very likely due to your specific hardware.

You're probably right because I had the same problem with Suse and Fedora...

- Ubuntu 6.06.1 LTS 32 bit brought up to date: Kernel 2.6.15-27-386
- Shuttle SD31P with GeForce 6200 Turbo Cache PCI Express 16x

Is there a specific command I can execute to give you a better information of my configuration?

I updated Ubuntu to Edgy and I bring it up to date but I still have the same problem.

I update my BIOS too to the last version.

Any idea?

I'm not able to reproduce this problem on Ubuntu 7.04 (Final Release).
