Bug Description

I have been having resolution issues on my machine and noticed that I no longer have a /etc/resolv.conf file (I have a dead link in its place that points to /etc/resolvconf/run that itself points to a non-existent /dev/shm/resolvconf). I have recently synced to the latest updates (today) and am running on a vmware instance.

I updated to 1.36ubuntu1 prior to filing the bug so I'm thinking there is still a problem (IOW, it's not a duplicate of 61310).

I was able to fix this issue by removing resolver completely and then reinstalling. So simply updating does not help.

Prior to removing:

rmoore@rmoore-desktop:~$ ls -l /etc/resolvconf
...
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 2006-09-08 17:01 run -> /dev/shm/resolvconf
...

After removing then reinstalling:

rmoore@rmoore-desktop:~$ ls -l /etc/resolvconf/
...
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 2006-09-28 11:39 run -> /var/run/resolvconf
...

It seems this is no longer an issue, if it is, feel free to reopen this (but to me, it seems that it is how resolvconf is supposed to work, is not it?)

Changed in resolvconf:
status: Unconfirmed → Rejected
