Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem

Hi, I'm working on Edgy and Totem is supposed to resize its main window according to the size of the media, but it doesn't. Hitting 0, 1 or 2 to resize it doesn't work either.

Thanks for your bug. Do you use totem-gstreamer or totem-xine? Does it happen when playing any media? What do you try to play? Do you have any error on the command line if you run totem from it?

Hi Sebastien, thanks for your reply.

I'm using totem-gstreamer and it happens all the time, when I play any type of video or audio.

I don't get any error message on the console when running totem from it, just this:

"david@david-laptop:~$ totem
** Message: w 420 h 432 sidebar 0"

It's worth noting that there are two issues here:
1. Totem doesn't erisze its window to fit the size of media.
2. It is not possible to use short keys (0, 1, 2) or the View -> Fit Window to Movie menus to change the size of the window (
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a movie in totem .
2. Press 0.

Expected resuts:
Window to resize and become half the size of the videos native size

Actual results:
Nothing happens.
)

Version information:
totem-gstreamer 2.16.1-1ubuntu1

Just found this bug via the search, I'm using Ubuntu 6.10 beta and I'm also experiencing it.

As said, resizing doesn't work at all. For example, download this - http://www.gran-turismo.com/jp/movie/index.do?id=385 - video. It's 720p, if I play it with Media Player Classic under Windows XP Media Player Classic auto-resizes to 1:1 and the vid nearly occupies the entire viewable area of my 20" widescreen monitor. In Ubuntu 6.10 beta this video is displayed by Totem in a very tiny window, and the option to resize it to 1:1 doesn't work.

Maybe this is related with this bug: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/35055 ?

This seems fixed when I upgraded to Feisty's totem. Well, at least mostly. It automatically resizes when opening a movie, and the '0' and '1' keyboard shortcuts work, but '2' seems to still not work.

I use Feisty since Herd 4 and this Totem bug appears since 3 weeks.

It doesn't matter if I mark or unmark the "auto resize option" in the preferences.
