Bug Description

Binary package hint: php5-mysql

I don't think this was an issue in earlier versions, but in

[42949372.960000] Linux version 2.6.15-27-server (buildd@terranova) (gcc version 4.0.3 (Ubuntu 4.0.3-1ubuntu5)) #1 SMP Sat Sep 16 02:57:21 UTC 2006

with apache2 and mysql and php5 installed, I installed php5-mysql but php commands calling mysql failed.

In php.ini, mysql was not turned on (i needed to uncomment one line).

Instead, it should be assumed that mysql is wanted in php when someone installs php-mysql.
i was expecting / used to turnkey installation, and there were no instructions telling me I needed to do such a basic activation.
The relevant line should come not commented-out.
