Bug Description
Binary package hint: xserver-
I'm not sure how to reproduce this.
From dapper, I did the
gksu "update-manager -c -d"
Then upgrade to Edgy. After everything was done, xserver-
I found that the old packages (from dapper) xserver-

I can confirm this bug. I just upgraded from Dapper to the Edgy beta on an amd64 system, using the recommended "apt-get update; apt-get upgrade; apt-get dselect-upgrade", and on reboot got the same error. Running "apt-get install xserver- xorg-video- all" and manually editing the xorg.conf file (which had incorrect screen resolutions) seems to have fixed things.
