Bug Description

 (Standalone) Realplayer 10 (package "realplay" from the Canonical repository) crashes on opening video streams from Deutsche Welle. The two videos I have tried play fine using the RealPlayer plugin in Firefox.

I was able to open a video from another source without any problem (http://mediaarchive.ksc.nasa.gov//dynavideo/dyna_smil.cfm?mediaid=30154&alang=en&useMP4=false&filename=vstream1.ksc.nasa.gov/odv/ma/STS115/ksc_092206_115_overview&format=rm

The videos that failed both come from links on http://www.dw-world.de/dw/0,2142,4753,00.html

Here is what happens when I open one of the videos (Kultur.21) in a terminal:

robert@mr-rusty:~/.mozilla/firefox$ realplay rtsp://a1175.v143424.c14342.g.vr.akamaistream.net/ondemand/7/1175/14342/v0001/ondemand.dw-world.de/dwtv_video/kg/kg20060923.rm
The program 'realplay.bin' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
  (Details: serial 38 error_code 8 request_code 140 minor_code 13)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
   option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

mlind changed the source package from unknown to realplayer. This is incorrect. Realplayer is an Ubuntu package that helps you to install realplayer 8. Realplay, on the other hand, is a package from the repository of commercial packages at canonical.com. It installs Realplayer 10.

I have the same problem too, but not just with DW. BBC website also fails. If I select to open the video in a separate window I have no problems. It seems to be with embedded content only.

Crash report attached.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and trying to help make Ubuntu better. However, it seems that you are not using a software package provided by the official Ubuntu repositories. Because of this the Ubuntu project can not support or fix your particular bug. Please report this bug to the provider of the software package. Thanks!
