Bug Description
This has been recently NMUed in Debian to fix several critical bugs which were holding it back from being synced to edgy. Currently the package in edgy suffers from bugs such as #24550, #51315 which can stop the system booting, due to udev blocking.

Looks good... especially when considering that this one not only fixes those critical bugs you mention but also many other smaller bugs and few, small new features...
