Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

Using the normal update manager to upgrade from Dapper to Edgy, this was the error reported.

Attaching appropriate files from /var/log/dist-upgrade/

Apparently python-central was unable to install python-setuptools because of a locally installed versin. This makes the postinst fail and that kills the upgrade.

please could you run on this system:
dpkg -l python*-setuptools python-central python

This error may come from a locally installed version of python-setuptools.

To fix similar problem python-central should get a "PYTHON_CENTRAL_OVERWRITE_LOCAL" environemtn var that the dist-upgrader can set to ensure that the postinst scripts will not fail.
