Could not calculate upgrade

Bug Description

1. start new terminal session.
2. execute following:
   gksu "update-manager -c -d"

Error occurs after some steps. Files will be attached as suggested by update-manager

/var/log/dist-upgrade/term.log file could not be attached as it was empty.

More info on this. I looked through the apt.log and found that the scripts seems to have a problem with the package openoffice.org-l10n-mr-in. Removing this package seemed to move things forward.

However, this failed again with the error that it {edubuntu, ubuntu, kubuntu}-desktop was not installed. (sighhh..) So i installed that and it came with loads of dependencies which i okayed.

Ran update-manager again. Here's what main.log has different in the end:
