Bug Description

As summary says, ustyled sites' buttons Firefox shows in Windows 98-style. Why not those buttons use user's chosen GNOME theme?

I think it's a problem of browser integration with Ubuntu operating system.

Well, yes.

Form buttons should be rendered using Ubuntu's selected theme. Each form item (checkboxes too) on this site: http://www.w3.org/2000/07/8378/xhtml/media-types/test.xml#forms.heading should not be displayed in Win98-style.

In fact, on 404 error pages displayed by browser, "Try again" button is displayed correctly.
However, as far as I know, the button declaration is written in XUL with this code so it's not ordinary form button:

<xul:button xmlns:xul="http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul" id="errorTryAgain" label="Spróbuj ponownie" oncommand="retryThis();"/>

Maybe this will help?

One more example.

All XUL-generated items are rendered using GTK+ theme:

But regular (X)HTML buttons without any CSS declarations are not:

www.google.com (two search buttons)
or

Why do you need all those testcases? Can't you notice that website buttons are plain in Win98-style?

There was recently an article on Digg about how to make Firefox's buttons look decent in Ubuntu. Perhaps this person's guide could be useful to you guys: http://osnovice.blogspot.com/2007/05/firefox-controls-are-ugly.html

Also, I think this bug may technically classify as a duplicate of bug 40051: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/40051

I heard the Linux Outlaws talking about this. I don't like it myself. Don't fix what isn't broken because it feels broken now.
