Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus-open-terminal

When using the plugin/extension/whatever-you-want-to-call-it with the desktop, it opens the terminal to the desktop.

Steps to reproduce:
1. "sudo apt-get install nautilus-open-terminal"
2. In the nautilus desktop in gnome, right click
3. You can see how it doesn't open to the desktop

But, if you actually open a nautilus browsing window, and go to the desktop, or any other folder it works.

From TODO file:

Decide whether right-clicking the desktop should bring up an "Open Terminal"
or an "Open in Terminal" item, i.e. if it should simply launch the terminal
or additionally set the desktop directory as working directory.

In my opinion, I brought this up because it is doing the former, and it should properly do the latter, if users want to have it just open up a terminal and not to the desktop, they should make a desktop file and add it to their gnome panel or just put it on their desktop.

I completely agree. I use the desktop a lot as a temporary file space and the open terminal extension used to make dealing with new downloads or random files very efficient. (on my gentoo it strangely did cd to ~/Desktop... can't check right now because my RAM on that machine is bust). It would be great if somebody could fix this!

My Launchpad-fu is low, but this is now upstream at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=468955 along with a patch. Enjoy.

In HEAD, I added a GConf key for toggling this behavior, that defaults to the requested behavior. The status should be changed to fixcommitted.

Would be great if this would be fixed in Hardy. It's maybe just a small thing, but it's nasty.

In the Debian bug-report it is said to be fixed in version 0.9-1. Version 0.8-2 is in the repositories, can this be updated?
Version 0.9-2 found here: http://debian.mirror.inra.fr/debian/pool/main/n/nautilus-open-terminal/#
does not install on Ubuntu (Dependency is not satisfiable: libpango1.0-0) so iwas not able to test it.

In particular, our version of Pango is too old.
