Bug Description
Binary package hint: beagle
After the update from dapper to edgy, beagle don't list the entries for applications and documentations, not stored in user's home.
Searching in beagle logs I found those messages:
Debug: Reading mapping from filters
Debug: Loading system static indexes.
Debug: Version mismatch in /var/cache/
Debug: Index has version 14.0, expected 15.-1
Warn: Unable to create read-only index (likely due to index version mismatch): /var/cache/
Debug: Version mismatch in /var/cache/
Debug: Index has version 14.0, expected 15.-1

I suspect this is a post-[install,
came across the same issue. beagle/ indexes/ supposed to be empty?
does /var/cache/
