Bug Description

Binary package hint: openssh-client

ssh does not connect anymore in the format $ssh hostname, but does work in $ssh username@hostname. it just times out

Thanks for your bug report. I am under the impression that if you type 'ssh hostname' ssh does not connect, however if you type 'ssh bob@hostname' it does connect. Is that correct? Is the remote username a different one than the local username? Thanks in advance.

No, the remore username is identical so if I'm user bob om my local machine,
ssh hostname does not connect, but ssh bob@hostname does connect.

Could you add the output of 'ssh -v hostname' to your bug report? Thanks in advance.

Hi Brian. To my great regret I didn't have access to my own machine for a
while, and I was forced to use (shudder) winXP. I'll get the information as
soon as I can, and reopen the bug.
