Yes, you are right, there is already a newer version of Pydev. However, it depends on Eclipse 3.2 that is not yet ready for Ubuntu. We have to wait for it a bit. Thanks for your interest in this package.

Hmm, but now Eclipse 3.2.1 actually was thrown into Edgy!

There is a lot of improvement since 1.2.0... Here is the features list and history:
http://pydev.sourceforge.net/features.html

It is even said that version 1.2.0 does not support Eclipse 3.1 any more and this is why the version compatibility number changed in version 1.2.1:
" * Added dependency to Eclipse 3.2 features, as version 1.2.0 of pydev and newer are only Eclipse 3.2 compatible."

As I understand it, the current eclipse-pydev should depend on eclipse 3.2 even if version 1.2.0 is technically compatible with eclipse 3.1...

ok ok, thanks for your interrest in this package. I am really glad that we
have a solid and concerned user base for eclipse-pydev. I am already working
on the new package. It has to be backported to java 1.4 and there are also
some issues with jython package. So please stay tuned, hopefuly I will be
able to make it soon.
