Bug Description
Binary package hint: vmware-player
Every time I start vmplayer it creates an empty directory in my home directory, /home/fbn/vmware for example.
There are no files in it so I guess this directory is useless but annoying because it's not hidden and it's in the user's home directory.

It's the default location to look for VMs. It's behaviour that's inherited from Workstation - it admittedly makes less sense here because the player can't create VMs.
