Bug Description

Binary package hint: kmail

I'm using kmail to connect to the IMAP server running on Exchange 2k3. If I then connect via the web interface (browser or evolution exchange connector), I see all new emails twice. Old/read emails only show once. I'm running kmail
3.5.4-0ubuntu5 on Edgy.

The issue also shows with outlook desktop client as well. And I think the mail is indeed there in inbox, because if I delete one of the duplicated one, the inbox size can be reduced.

I'm starting to notice that emails will occasionally show doubled in the inbox until I click on them. They also show doubled in the web interface and/or evolution until I mark them as read. Once marked as read, they only show once.

Have you tried the updated 3.5.7 for Feisty? If not, please view http://kubuntu.org/announcements/kde-357.php. Thanks.

So 3.5.7 in feisty was OK, while gutsy version (enterprise branch) still shows this problem?

I am also using IMAP on Exchange 2003 and I cannot reproduce this problem.
- do you use imap or cachedimap?
- do you use any filters on incoming e-mails?
- do you use any exchange filters/rules?
- is this only for inbox folder or also for other folders?

imap

Yes, but only server side rules for the exchange account. However, I also have a pop3 account configured which runs local rules on that inbox.

I've not noticed it in other folders, but will confirm.

OK, I was wrong. It was also configured to run filters on the IMAP account, even though I had no filters configured that would apply. However, even after disabling the option to apply filters to the IMAP account, the behavior continues.

Also, I didn't check a lot of folders, but the ones I did check did not show the same behavior.

I am observing the same problem. I check emails with kmail and pine at two different locations. I noticed the emails being duplicated again and again.

This thread has had no activity in quite a while. Is this still an issue for anybody or can it be closed now?

I still have this issue... Just duplicate every mail when I take a look at outlook. And kmail said every message is read, but outlook said only one of each duplicate is read. So I have to delete unread msg once a week in outlook...

I see the same issue. Kubuntu 9.10 here too.
Although not fatal (seems to disappear with older messages), I have to ask why after three years this is still alive...

Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more effective debugging.

Thanks!
