Dapper not stable on a computer from a german ubuntu guy

Bug Description

The critical phase is usally 10 minutes after the start. In this time he have always problems with some programs like firefox/thunderbird/gaim etc... After the crash of this programm the whole system crash. Also an idication for a future crash is a gnome-panel crash. This crash comes very often.
If the system run (more than ~10 minutes) it run and run...
The 386 and k7 kernel brings no change. Memtest run 2 hours without errors.

ps: This is not my problem, im the communicator for somebody who don't know how to write a bug. Please ask me questions, i will forward....

Do the crashes happen if the german guy created a new user and used that one? this might solve the problem. also, trying to start firefox from the command line and watch what it says after the crash might help.

Ok, he greate a new user. When he start gaim the system froze...
I have tell him to send me following logs:
/var/log/messages
/var/log/syslog
/var/log/dmesg
/var/log/Xorg.0.log

Is this ok?

Here an other error at the start:
Duplicate or bad block in use!
Then 4 times:
Multiply-claimed block(s) in inode xy

The fact that it will either die at ~10 minutes, or continue okay makes me think it might be a hardware problem - maybe overheating?
