Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase

If you set the time two hours ahead by changing the panel clock and pressing the _APPLY_ button the display will be deactivated and blank (unless you move the mouse).

My guess is that the powersave function only checks timestamp and does not count the time the computer has been out of use. The only strange thing is that it only happens if you click the apply button instead of the ok button.

[00:11] <Tonio_> when I click apply, the screen goes black and then to normal, just after one second, without touching the mouse

are you running kpowersave?

In my case I do have to touch the mouse. In either case, the screen only goes black when moving the clock more than about 2 hours forward and hitting the apply button. It doesn't happen moving the clock backward or a small amount forward, and doesn't happen with the OK button.

I am not running kpowersave, only guidance powermanager, which is not set to do anything when the system is idle. The screensaver is set to start after 10 minutes.

This is troublesome because it also blanks the screen when the kubuntu installer sets the local timezone.

This is also present in Gutsy

Not present in up-to-date Hardy, KDE 3.5.9, not with my hardware at least, changing time 2 or 4 hours (no change in minutes or seconds) forward or back. (Powersave active, no screensavers.)
