Bug Description

Binary package hint: amarok

Upgraded from Dapper to Edgy 6.10. When I try to install amaroK through Synaptic, it says that it depends on amarok-xine, but amarok-xine isn't being installed. When I try to install amarok-xine, the same thing happens.Synaptic won't resolve dependancy properly in Ubuntu

This was on a laptop with a fresh Dapper install (so amaroK wasn't installed before), then an Edgy upgrade. After the upgrade and update, I went to Synaptic and tried to install amaroK.

Update: When I installed Edgy from the CD image, the problem wasn't there. I still have the "upgrade" version on a different partition, so if you want to try to solve the problem/bug then I can still go in and try.

Can you please attach your /etc/apt/sources.list file?

This is on a spare laptop. I'm going to try to install it from the cd image (instead of upgrading), to see if the problem (as well as a few others) is still there.

Is this still a problem (has recent updates fixed it?)

I am not sure - I installed amaroK from source, so it
hasn't been an issue. Thanks.

Usually if you have trouble installing something, using aptitude instead of apt-get at the command line can help fix things. Aptitude has better dependency handling than apt-get, which I believe synaptic and adept use underneath.

Since it's not a problem anymore and we haven't had any confirmations, it's probably just something on your machine. Thanks for your contribution to Kubuntu.
