Bug Description

This happens with kernels 2.6.17-10-386 and 2.6.15-10-27-386.
It does _not_ happen with 2.6.15-26-386, when all other things involved are the same. This does not mean the bug is in the kernel but IMHO there's evidence.

System: Laptop Acer TravelMate 610, graphic Intel 815 (i810). The display of the TM 610 series is not capable of DDC.

I consider this a minor bug, because the system keeps working, and the screen is readable after X started.
Of course, on a text-only system you're off I think...

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release?

The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the actively developed release. You can find out more about the development release at [WWW] http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/
The first Hardy Heron testing should get out thursday, november 29 if all goes well, (or be skipped if things goes wrong).
