xen 3.0.3-RC1 doesn't boot in edgy

Bug #64260 reported by Matt Price

Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
xen-source-2.6.17 (Ubuntu)
Fix Released
Undecided
Unassigned

Bug Description

install various xen packages; edit /boot/menu/grub.lst as per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/XenOnEdgy ; reboot.

xen then hangs at "Begin: waiting for root filesystem" whle booting, after whch there is no further progress. I have tried adding root= boot parameters (both the old-fashioned /dev/sda3 style and the weird uuid address that grub gives on all my automagically generated stanzas), but these do not change the outcome.

I presume you're using the current 2.6.17 packages as on the wiki page?

Please regenerate your ramdisk there was an initramfs update which might have prevented you from booting.

my last comment didn't appear here so I assume I crashed firefox or something. i am using current 2.6.17 xen packages, all up to date. I regenerated the initramfs as per chuck's suggestion and now it boots! still some other errors though...

thanks,

matt
