crashed when I opened a particular page

Bug Description

I think I accidentally opened the link twice, once with "Open link in a new tab".

The link is http://www.msxlabs.org/forum/dogadan-manzaralar/1392-hayatimiz-agaclar.html

By the way, it's _insane_ that I have to register to report a bug. Don't you people _want_ me to report bugs? Why are you putting obstacles in my way?

And I would be delighted to attach the 14 MB file that got generated, but this web form appears to offer no way for me to do that.

ah, I have to attach the file _after_ submitting the bug. Come on people; think _usability_. Geez.

Anyway, I've since dismissed the popup that told me where the crash dump is, and don't remember the path. Why didn't the thing that generated the dump also mail it for me? Why do I even have to do this?

Oh, all right, I'll scour my entire f***ing filesystem to find it ...

Ha. I found it, after expending effort searching. OK, fine.

So I uploaded it. Being 14Mb, it naturally took a while. Pity there was no feedback from Bon Echo, other than a tiny message in the status bar. But then: _the upload failed_. And why? Because I forgot to type in a description. And as we all know: "An attachment requires a description."

People, THIS IS INSANE. If you want to improve Ubuntu, you must MAKE IT EASY FOR US TO HELP YOU. I am a professional programmer. I know my way around computers. I love Free Software. But you know what? This has wasted too much of my time already. I'm not including the crash dump. I hope someone else has already reported this bug. And if not? Then I'll put up with the flakiness. I give up.

Thanks for your bug report. That page works fine for me with Edgy (i386). I can open it, and look at it.

But this page contains multiple embedded Macromedia Flash elements, which may explain a possible crash in Firefox. But without more informations from your side it will be difficult to know for sure. So I guess we'll have to give up as well on this bug report.

Thanks for your crash report.

Could you please download you crash report, run

apport-retrace -d [filename]

and resubmit it. Instructions can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Apport

I am working my way though all of the firefox issues reports and don't have enough bandwidth to download/upload them all myself;(

Thanks
David

I apologize for the obstacales that were are putting in your way to resolve this issues.

There is a bug in apport, that has been fixed in feisty but not pushed back to edgy.

I am downloading your crash report and will look at it tonight.

Thanks
David

Is this still and issue for you? We are trying to trying sort out the older Mozilla issues and would like to know if this still happens.

David were you able to find anything in the bug report of any use?

No, but (presumably) only because I've never returned to that page,
nor duplicated the exact sequence of steps that I went through when I
first hit the bug. I just made a feeble attempt to reproduce it, and
there was no problem, but for all I know I'm now using a different
version of firefox, with different plugins, and so on. In short, I
haven't the faintest idea if the bug has been fixed.

Thank you for the bug report. However I am unable to reproduce this issue. We are now going to close this report - please feel free to reopen when you have more information at hand.
I will talk to David and see what he found and will reopen it if he thinks this is more than just a one time crash. I didnt see anything stick out in your backtrace.
