Bug Description
Binary package hint: pulseaudio
If this bug looks familiar, it is because it was fixed in Lucid under bug 451635. The changes made then were not carried forward to Maverick.
When testing Maverick Beta release, audio is available on rear RCA jacks only. No way to enable audio on headphones.

The pulseaudio package still has the patch to fix the bug you referred to. So at a glance, my guess is that mixer element names have changed in the driver. I'll need to check 451635 and this bug to compare mixer elements.
