Bug Description

Binary package hint: dhcdbd

Ubuntu verion: Ubuntu 6.06 LTS, aka Dapper Drake
dhcdbd version info from synaptic: 1.10-0Ubuntu11.1
considered current and latest version by synaptic updated Oct 8, 2006.

This problem occurs when trying to authenticate with a wireless network. The laptop is a Dell Latitude C400, with a Broadcom wireless chipset running the BCM-43xx kernel module and updated wl_apsta.o drivers. Nsidwrapper is fully commented out and is not loaded. The card has connected with intermittent success in the past, depending on what driver/BCM combination was used. Further investigation of my logs show timeouts getting a dhcp assignment with a SoftMAC timeout for eth1. Messages file points to dhcdbd, current version:

I am experiencing the same issue in Edgy! Is there a fix? I am using bcm43xx and got it working initially using the wiki HOWTO for Dapper. I can list the wireless networks in network-manager-gnome, but I fail to receive a DHCP address when I click to connect. I receive the same SoftMAC timed out error :-(
