Bug Description

After updating something i'm unable to enable the Checkbox "Scan for available services and advertise local services on the network. This is a potential security risc". The avahi-daemon is started but i can't find any services (I'm unable too to find my own!).

Okay, after a update of gnome-system-tools the status of the Checkbox is now saved but the problem with the service discovery is still there: i can't see the avahi-services from other machines in the network and i'm unable to see my own too.

Is avahi-daemon actually running?

If you install 'avahi-discover' and run it, can you see your own services (workstation service, for example)

Also, if so, what network interface do you have / what type is it?

The avahi-Service starts correctly (it seems so) - how can i check that? Avahi-discover shows no services - in the past it worked i think and the same on a dapper machine is no problem.

I'm using a normal LAN with the interface eth0 and a static IP-Address. I have also a disabled WLAN-Adaptor with a r2500 USB chip (rausb0).
