Had 2 existing partitions (/home & /download) in ReiserFS format that I marked for re-use.
Created a /boot partition with ext3
Reformatted existing root partition from ReiserFS to XFS

started installation. partitioning went fine but installer crashed in beginning of "copying files" part...

Note that the screenshot suggested to attach, (by making 3 distinct comments) /var/log/installer/syslog, /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman.

Anyway, this particuliar problem is known, so no need to reinstall to be able to attach the files.

Thanks for your report. I'm afraid that one of your partitions seems to be too small to complete an Ubuntu desktop installation successfully. Bug 48355 notes that the partitioner should have warned you about this. This is fixed in 6.06.1.
