Bug Description

Running Ubuntu 6.10 on dual core HP laptop with firefox 2.0 (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20060601 BonEcho/2.0 (Ubuntu-edgy))

I had two tabs open, one with an mpeg clip which had finished playing (I think in embedded vlc). I clicked to close firefox, got the window boarder of the usual warning about closing multiple tabs - but inside the boarder was still the still image from behind, when I moved it (a copy of) that section of the image moved with it. I clicked to close the whole thing and after a very short pause it crashed.

An autogenerated log is attached.

I got exactly the same crash behavior, but with Firefox 1.5 (and an ordinary, non-video web site). I had 3 tabs open.

Duncan and Raj,
Thank you for the bug report.

Is this still a problem for either of you? If so could you please install the firefox-dbg package and try to obtain a backtrace (or crash report) by following the instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

Which flash package do you have installed?
Which Java package do you have installed?
Which firefox extensions do you have installed?

I haven't seen this behaviour since I reported it.

But to answer your other questions:

Flash:
'Edit > Preferences > Content > Manage...'
SPL: Open with Shockwave Flash

Java:
I have both Blackdown and Sun Java installed. I can't find a way to see which one Firefox is using.

Extensions:
* Adblock Plus
* FireFTP
* Web Developer

Ok closing this report, seems that it is not really producible any longer.

Duncan, java -version will tell you what one firefox is using.
If its using blackdown (1.4) You can run "sudo update-alternatives --config java" and choose the version you want to be used system wide.
