Bug Description

Hi,

The hplip package provide libsane-hpaio.so.1 and libsane-hpaio.so.1.0.0 symlink to ../libsane-hpaio.so.1.0.0 but hplip does not provide this file.

hplip must provide this file since this is the real sane backend shared object.

Thanks.

I can reproduce it. The Debian version of HPLIP is rather messy and difficult to move to a new HPLIP upstream version. Currently, I am making a simpler Debian-independent package and try to get all functionality back working into it.

Promoted it to "Critical" and Edgy milestone, it is for sure a regression against Dapper.

Please try my new HPLIP 1.6.9 packages. I have removed all the Debian mess and hope that I gained more maintainability without breaking it.

Can you try the packages from

http://www.freestandards.org/~till/tmp/ubuntu/edgy/hplip/binary/

With these I am able to scan.

Please try also to print, fax, check ink levels, ... to be sure to have no regressions.

Hi,

Your packages works very nice. hp-info output corrects infos. sane works

In Feisty (HPLIP 1.6.10-2ubuntu1) the file libsane-hpaio.so is missing again. I have corrected it with HPLIP 1.6.10-2ubuntu2:
