Bug Description

Saphire Radeon 9500 128mb (non pro) black pcb with Ubuntus default ati driver causes CONSTANT lockups. The mouse will not respond, keyboard, X freezes. Installing ati.com official drivers using method 2 outlined at http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Edgy_Installation_Guide fixes this behavior.
I have reproduced this almost a dozen times with fresh clean installs+updates of both 6.06 and 6.10 total.

could you please attach the following files:
output of lspci -n (as a text file)
/var/log/Xorg.0.log (preferably right after a freeze)
/etc/X11/xorg.conf

thanks :)

here are the files and then some to help debug.
/var/log/Xorg.0.log (preferably right after a freeze).. you requested is not right after a freeze, the machine has not frozen for a while since I installed the official ati.com drivers, I do not want to revert back because it gets so unstable it would take me a number of restarts probably just to write this

This is a definite bug. I will do a clean install of 6.10 when its released and provide a copy of Xorg.0.log after it freezes. Is there anything else I can provide at that time? Soon as submit needed info I am installing ati.com drivers so I have a stable usable machine asap.

The xorg.conf at http://launchpadlibrarian.net/4903418/xorg.conf.20061008133723 and attached to this bug is problematic for the following reason:
